| All right beautiful people here is your review of a film called ALL THE KINGS MEN, starring Sean Penn, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, James Gandolfini, and Anthony Hopkins
Now this film is a re-make from 1949 and is the account of the Louisiana governor Willie Sparks. His rise to power and his assassination.
Lets begin with the positives.
The acting for the most part is great. The story is very intriguing.
But ...
Folks simply put here is the biggest problem with the movie, you have an all-star cast of some of the finest actors ever assembled, and you have a movie that is less then mediocre.
The direction was all wrong, instead of focusing on Sean Penn who is really the star of the movie and hands down the best actor in the line-up, the movie is about Jude Law in weird way and how his relationship with Anthony Hopkins and Kate Winslet is all jacked up. It was a bad decision. I could have watched Sean on the big screen for 3 hours, he could have totally carried the movie if they would have just given him the ball and let him run with it.
To Sum it all up let me just say this:
It is totally unacceptable to me to have an all star cast such as this one and have just a mediocre movie. If your line up is 5 A list actors then you should have a film that is an A +++++. And this movie is barely a C.
With that being said I give this film 2 Persian Carpets
