All right everyone here is your review of a film called POSEIDON starring Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, and Richard Dryfuss, and the chick from the Black Eye Peas. Before we get into this review can anyone tell me how Josh Lucas got front billing over Kurt Russell, when did Josh Lucas become a bigger star?
In this film a giant cruise ship gets hit by a rogue wave and is turned upside down. Josh Lucas and Kurt Russell lead a group of 8 people through the ship as they desperately try to find a way out of the ship, as the rest of the people stranded on board believe that the ships GPS system will bring help to rescue them.
Folks lets start with positives about this movie, hands down this film has one of the best sets I have ever seen, the CGI and the sets they built were incredible. The other really positive aspect is the non-stop action. There is about 17 minutes of fluff at the beginning and the rest of the movie is people being electrocuted, drowning, and burning.
The cheese factor in this film is off the charts. Firstly you can actually predict everyone that is going to die in this movie. Not only can you predict that they are going to die, you actually can predict it down to the minute. The Dialogue at times was completely unsellable.
A while ago a movie came out called the CORE which had a crap load of celebrities, and it sucked, and for some odd reason this movie is following the same model. A stupid story stacked with celebrities in the hopes of deceiving the public.
To sum it all up let me just say this:
The action in the movie is great as are the sets. This movie is the definition of a popcorn movie. Nothing to think about and you walk away with nothing, no deep thoughts, just a smirk on your face. If that is all you want in a film then this is the one for you.
