Here’s some scoop on Alice Music:
Diane Birch, “Nothing but a Miracle”: Diane had a pretty typical American childhood - she was born in Michigan and raised in Zimbabwe. Yawn. She managed to find enough interesting things out of that for an album, though, and on top of everything else she has given us the torchiest of all torch songs. Watch her Kill. It. on Letterman here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5XJxFtYEes
Boys Like Girls/Taylor Swift, “Two is Better Than One”: So, rumor has it that Martin from Boys Like Girls wrote this song with Taylor in mind. Perhaps because he is not a moron. You want your record to sell a katillion copies? Guess what you do … write a smash that Taylor happens to join you on. Done and done. This song will go #1 or I’m not ….. well, I just really think this is a #1 song.
John Mayer, “Who Says”: OK so it’s not brand new, we’ve been playing this one for a few weeks; but we’ve smoked (no pun intended) the competition so badly on it that I just wanted to rub it in a little more. And in case you’re wondering if this is a party song - or maybe, just maybe - a melancholy meditation on the admitted shallowness of his life, check out the video here: http://johnmayer.com/whosays/?event=whosays
Michael Buble, “Haven’t Met You Yet”: Michael’s about to hit the Bay Area on tour, and you should not ask any of your hipster friends for drinks that night. They have plans. Everyone will be at the Michael Buble show, because that’s just how it goes. OH and did I mention that he’s had the number one selling record in the country for two weeks straight? Beating the New Moon soundtrack?! Yeah.
