| All right beautiful people of Alice Radio here is your review of a film called Alpha Dog starring Bruce Willis, Sharon Stone, and one of Americas true treasures Justin Timberlake oh yah and don’t forget a brief cameo by Canada’s favorite son Alan Thicke.
This film is based on the true story of Jesse James Hollywood, one of the youngest people to ever be put on the FBI’s most wanted list for Kidnap, extortion, and murder. When Jesse James Hollywood doesn’t get paid on a drug deal all hell seems to break loose with the kidnapping a 15-year-old boy who is held for ransom and then eventually murdered.
Now this movie is directed by Nick Cassevettes who also directed Blow and the Notebook. And he chose a very interesting cast. The boy who plays the 15 year old who gets kidnapped was absolutely cast perfectly. His name is Anton Yelchin and he does an amazing job.
Lets move onto the big draw to this film Justin Timberlake ... how did he do? He practically stole the film. He is not only a great dancer and singer but he sure can act.
So who is going to see this movie, lots of drug use, sex, and murder with a bunch of white kids and hardcore rap soundtrack?
To Sum it all Up:
I really liked the direction of the film. Nick Cassevettes does a really good job in presenting this as an actual piece of fiction but he also sparkly makes it seem like a documentary. He took a lot of risks by clashing different styles of movie making and they all seemed to work. One last note my hat off to Sharon Stone she doesn’t normally get credit for her acting ability because of such movies as Basic Instinct 2 but when they throw the fat suit on her she sure does deliver.
With that being said I give this movie 3 7/8 Persian Carpets
