| All right beautiful people of Alice Radio here is your review of a film called THE BRIDGE starring 8 people who commit suicide and was done by Eric Steel.
This film is a documentary that shows the suicide attempts of 7 or 8 people in 2004 as they jump off one of the most famous landmarks in the world the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE.
I think it would be best to start with the fact that this movie shows it all. There is nothing off limits. You see the person jumping off the bridge, you see the splash as they hit the water from 220 ft up and you see the bodies they were able to find being pulled from the water.
What occurs on the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the best kept secrets in the bay area, because the print, radio and TV news stations have an unwritten agreement with the Golden Gate Bridge authorities not to report the jumpers because they feel that this would be encouraging more suicides. The news is being censored because the grownups don’t think you can handle hearing what a regular occurance suicides off the bridge are.
The thing that struck me the most is that there is no profile for the jumpers, it literally can be anyone at anytime. In the film a guy is having a converstation on the phone and the next thing you know he throws his phone over his shoulder and jumps right off. Another thing that was suprising was that every jumper was white.
To Sum it all up let me just say this:
I applaud the film makers for bringing this regular occurance to the limelight and to all the people that had anything to do with this movie. The film is incredibly depressing, and difficult to watch but it makes you look at your own life and realize how much you have. You will come away from this movie with deep thoughts, more humble and happy to be alive, and those things alone make a great film.
With that being said I give this movie a perfect score of 5 Persian Carpets
