| All right everyone here is your review of a film called THE DEPRARTED starring Jack Nicholson, Alec Baldwin, Martin Sheen, Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio.
The Departed is a Master Crime Drama in which you see the dirty underside of the Boston Mob and the corrupt Police. Each side has a mole planted within the other. And to make matters worse both moles find themselves in love with the same woman.
The best thing about this movie is the brutally intense, true, bleak ass mood Scorsese sets throughout this film that keeps getting bleaker and bleaker as the minutes continue.
There is no doubt that Nicholson, Baldwin, and Damon all deliver in a big ass way. But the dark horse the surprise performance, possibly good enough to get nominated for an Oscar is that of Marc Walburg. Playing 2nd in charge under Martin Sheen.
Now many people are saying this is Scorsese come back film and they are right. Gangs of New York and the Aviator were both in the "B" range, but this film at times is as good as Taxi Driver.
To Sum it All Up Let me Just Say this:
This by no means is a happy go lucky film but it is hands down DiCaprio's best performance on the big screen. If you want to see the film that is going to win Best Picture this year, this is the film for you.
With that being said I give this film 4 3/4 Persian Carpets
