TAKING PLACE SATURDAY, MARCH 29 AT 8PM
March is all about celebrating Green. Sightings of leprechauns’ and four-leaf clovers abound. Alice invites you to GET YOUR GREEN ON and really make a commitment to celebrating ‘Green’ all year long!
Generation Alice is invited to participate in the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour… coming March 29th at 8pm. This global phenomenon will spread across six continents in 2008 and culminate in San Francisco – the last of 25 cities in 20 time zones to demonstrate the power of collective action in fighting climate change.
World Wildlife Fund and Mayor Gavin Newsom have announced that San Francisco has been named a flagship city for Earth Hour (www.EarthHourUS.org) On Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m., millions of businesses and people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour – Earth Hour – to demonstrate how, by working together, individuals can make a difference in the fight against this global issue. The Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, Ghirardelli Square, Coit Tower, City Hall and AT&T Park -- as well residences and businesses throughout the Bay Area -- will join the global movement as Alice @ 97.3 and San Francisco joins an international roster of cities in making the city go dark for Earth Hour. AND SO CAN YOU!
What will you do when the lights are off? Why not change out those old energy-wasting light bulbs to new, inexpensive and efficient compact fluorescents. Earth Hour is also a great time to consider what you and your family can do in the days and months to reduce emissions and live more sustainably. We say have a candlelight picnic with friends or a romantic rendezvous would be good too!
The U.S. is the world's leading emitter of carbon dioxide—over 20 tons per person every year. One person committed to reducing energy consumption can make a difference, and millions of us working together can change the world. ACT NOW and add your name to the Earth Hour movement. It’s free. See the difference you can make!
