Tonight is the night! The Twilight Saga: New Moon is finalllllly here. Our very own Gretchen and Hooman will be at the big premiere tonight and they will be reviewing all the angsty vampire-y drama tomorrow morning on the Sarah and Vinnie show. Are you Team Jacob or Team Edward? Some celebrities have weighed in on the subject that plagues our nation on the eve of the Twilight release. Will Ferrell? He’s Team Edward. Jimmy Kimmel is neither because he “love[s] all monsters equally.” Tween star and friend of Taylor Lautner, Selena Gomez, goes with Team Jacob. Twilight’s own Nikki Reed claims she’s on Team Jacob, as well. Watch the trailer for the movie below:
So Marcus is playing Gwen Stefani’s The Sweet Escape single right now and I recently read a blog on the song that’ll make you smile. According to Urlesque.com, the song is loved by doggies of the world. Something about the “woohooing” has our canine companions wanting to join in the howling and singing. See a couple of video examples below, totally entertaining:
Your cute quota of the day has been met!
Speaking of cute, don’t forget tomorrow evening’s live webcast of John Mayer on the Live on Letterman webcast series. The webcast starts at 5 p.m. and will feature new songs from his just-released album Battle Studies. Yum.
It’s my favorite day of the week, new releases Tuesday! And this week sees new releases from dreamy John Mayer, Katy Perry, and Snow Patrol.
John Mayer is releasing his fourth studio album, Battle Studies today. To celebrate, we’re broadcasting a very special webcast of John Mayer performing at an exclusive aftershow on David Letterman. The Live on Letterman webcast will be at 8 p.m. sharp on Thursday, November 19. You can get more information here. I am so excited for this album, especially since we started playing the brand new single “Heartbreak Warfare.” I wrote once before how Mayer is using this brand new augmented reality technology for the video for “Heartbreak Warfare.” Watch him talk about it here.
In the tradition of bands like Nirvana and Alanis Morrisette before her, Katy Perry continues the tradition of MTV Unplugged performances. Today she’ll release a CD/DVD version of the performance she did for the music network. During the performance she covers Fountains of Wayne as well as plays a brand new song called “Brick by Brick.”
Snow Patrol is releasing a doozy of a best-of album today that features 30 tracks spanning the career of the UK band. The release titled, Up to Now also features a DVD of a documentary on the band as well as unreleased live footage. Now if you’re a superfan for Snow Patrol, you purchase the ultimate limited edition version of the collection, and get two DVD’s, three CDs, three vinyl albums as well as a booklett. Sounds totally awesome!
In other cool news, on December 14th, San Francisco’s Bentley Reserve is hosting the launch party for a nonprofit organization founded by Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins called True Meaning. The organization aims to help end world hunger. As part of the event, the Third Eye Blind will be playing a very special acoustic set to help kickstart the agency. Read Jenkin’s personalized note below to find out how to attend the event:
Thanks for listening and have a happy new release Tuesday!
The Black Eyed Peas were the lucky performers on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live. They played three songs on the show, as well as doing skit duties. The group were the guests on a spoof of the morning show with Kathie Lee Gifford, leading into an all out brawl against the talk show host. They also played three songs on the show, including I Gotta Feeling. Hilarity ensues below:
Taylor Swift also recently did hosting and performing duties on the show. Here is an awesome clip of the country songstress impersonating fellow singer Shakira.
Hope you guys enjoyed these clips as much as I did.

So tonight is the 43rd Annual Country Music Awards on ABC. Miss Taylor Swift is set to have a big night at the ceremony, as she’s not only the opening performer but is nominated for four categories, including the entertainer of the year award against Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, George Strait and Brad Paisley. Considering she’s only 19, it’s quite a feat for the country-pop songstress. Chris Daughtry will also be performing with Vince Gill at the awards ceremony. US Today did a special video diary from Taylor Swift in honor of her appearence on the awards.
I totally love the commercial spot Taylor Swift did for Activision’s Band Hero. Watch the ad below.
So as you might have noticed, we’ve been giving away Bon Jovi tickets all this week, as well as a chance to win tickets to his show in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In honor of the release of the band’s new album, The Circle, Bon Jovi has teamed up with NBC Universal exclusively in an “artist-in-residence” type deal. Jon Bon Jovi will be on Bravo’s Inside the Actor Studio on November 16. Watch their video from Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora’s appearance from November 9th on This Morning show.
Some exciting releases are coming up including John Mayer’s Battle Studies next week. Seven days and counting! Even though we have to wait until March 26 to see Mr. Mayer live and in person, it doesn’t mean you can’t your Mayer fix from elsewhere. On November 17, FuseTV will be broadcasting Mayer’s live performance of Battle Studies in full. It’ll be awesome to say the least. Here’s a video of single Who Says.
Speaking of new albums, Maroon 5 have been hard at work on their new album. The band spent some time in Switzerland to record the follow-up to 2007’s It Won’t be Soon before Long. The band has released a couple of teaser trailers for the new album. Check ‘em out below.
And as for Adam Levine, the singer for Maroon 5, he was recently turned into an avator for Activision’s Band Hero release. Apparently he’s OK with how the band used his image because, unlike No Doubt, there have been no lawsuits filed by Maroon 5 against the game.
It’s only eleven days until the release of John Mayer’s brand new album Battle Studies. I know we are definitely checking off the days on the calender until the release. To commemerate the day, Alice wants to send you on a plane to New York City to watch a very special performance by John Mayer on the David Letterman set. After he performs on the show, John will be playing for a special studio audience. You could be in that audience. All you have to do is fill out the form on this page and then Monday morning at 7am, listen when Sarah and Vinnie start calling names. If you hear your name, you’ll have 10 minutes to call the Alice studio at 415.478.FM97. If no one calls in 10 minutes, they will continue to draw a name every ten minutes UNTIL there is a winner!
Here’s a video of a previous David Letterman appearance John Mayer made in 2008.
More exciting John Mayer news: he finally announced a Bay Area tour date for 2010! He’s going to playing live in San Jose at the HP Pavillion on March 26. Tickets go on sale Saturday, November 11 with a couple of presales before that. They’re going for $34.50-$73 at ticketmaster.com. What’s pretty awesome about this tour as well is that Michael Franti & Spearhead are the opening band.
So Marcus found this three-year old NSFW (due to vulgar language) video of Ms. Kelly Clarkson getting rowdy with some Jack Daniels and Metal Skool on the Sunset Strip. Talk about some crazy shenanigans going on here.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween over the weekend. Thanks to everyone who came out to Le Freak Boutique last Friday night at Infusion Lounge. The big $1000 costume contest prize was granted to a gentlemen in a Buzz Lightyear get-up. Marcus tells me the whole night was pretty awesome. I wish I had been able to go.
Not the actual winner
So in lieu of the recent Bay Bridge meltdown there was a huge increase in BART ridership last week. In fact, 442,000 people rode BART last Thursday, setting records for the transit agency. Increased populations on the BART trains could cause some irritation as not everyone is aware of proper riding etiquette. Erin Allday, a San Francisco Chronicle Staff Writer, came out with a timely report about proper etiquette while riding the BART trains. Here are some of the tips from her article:
When riding on the escalator, walk on the left and stand on the right.
You should always take your ticket out before you reach the turnstiles.
Leave the outside seat open, sit next to the window.
Do not place your bag or purse on an empty seat.
If you must speak on your cell phone, do so quietly.
If you are listening to music, keep it at a level not audible to everyone in the train.
Hopefully this tips ease the possible frustration from riding on BART. Since there have been reports that the Bay Bridge may face another impending closure people will now know proper Bart-etiquette.
We’re giving away Kelly Clarkson tickets ALL week on Alice at 9, noon, and 5. Ms. Clarkson recently did a cover of Kings of Leon when she was in New York City. I think it’d be cool to see her do some more covers. Video below.
Maybe if you win the chance to meet Kelly backstage you could personally ask her to cover something for you.
Tomorrow is the big night: Le Freak Boutique Bash at Infusion Lounge in San Francisco. I think I finally figured out that I want to be one of the Mad Men women. I love those vintage dresses, now I just have to figure out my hairdo. Tomorrow night there’s a $1000 costume contest so make sure you dress up your wildest and craziest and maybe the cool prize can be yours. Tyra Banks is doing a Halloween special tomorrow on her talkshow and is planning on dressing as three celebreality stars including Kim Kardashian and Kate Gosselin. Look at her rocking out the two below.
So Taylor Swift is so awesome and has been nominated for six (count ‘em SIX!) American Music Awards including Artist of the Year. She’s got some competition between Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon, however. Ms. Swift finally announced a Bay Area date, oh how I wish April 11 was sooner! So since she’s so super duper popular you might have heard her other tour dates sold out in two minutes. Well, if you’re not lucky enough to score a pair by buying them, Alice has your back. Listen all this weekend for your chance to text and win a pair of tickets to the show. Make your daughter or best friend happy when you score some of the most coveted tickets. I totally hope the rumors of her and Taylor Lautner dating are true because 2 Taylors are totally cute.
